My decision on New Year's Eve last weekend, to go on a low-information diet, deactivate my Facebook account and check my email only once or twice a day has freed up a lot of my time, during which I'm reading more, including "Leaving Microsoft to Change the World".

A singularly powerful and moving read, the book's author, John Wood, challenges you to consider what might happen if your life changed dramatically.  What might happen if you were able and committed to following your passion.

What if there was a second act?

Your blog has reminded me to look at the "words of wisdom" quotes that I've collected over the years. I'll share a couple with you: "The men who try to do something and fail are infinitely better than those who try to do nothing and succeed." (Lloyd Jones)
"The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." (Winston Churchill) I keep these quotes in my calendar and had forgotten about them until reading about the changes you've made for the new year. I am in great need for inspiration lately. Wish me luck.

Tara,

Churchill's "The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." quote is a long time favorite of mine. Thanks for reminding me of it.

You've already added your own inspiration to your situation -- and my wish for the best of luck to you!
